New River Gorge, WV
Rock climbing in the New River Gorge region is composed of three river gorges – New, Gauley, and Meadow. Between these areas, there are thousands of routes, which attract rock climbers from all over the world! Within the miles of rock, you are sure to find the perfect route of any style. The area has every type of climbing: cracks, faces, slabs, overhangs, roofs, top rope, sport, trad and bouldering.
The Gorge has a variety of other outdoor recreation in addition to rock climbing. The New River has class III-V whitewater, cross country trails for mountain biking, hiking, or running and numerous swimming holes for summer afternoons. All of this is centered around the iconic New River Gorge Bridge! Climbing at the New River Gorge could involve a short approach to drop top ropes from the top, leading sport or trad, or a slightly longer approach and ladder descent into the famous Endless Wall. Our guides can help you experience climbing for the first time, learn to build you own anchors, lead, or show you around the miles of cliff line. Blue Ridge Mountain Guides is the only AMGA Accredited Business operating at the New River Gorge. **Currently WV regulations restrict ratios to a max of 2 guests to 1 guide. For this reason, we must book at 1:1 or 1:2 rates for the New River Gorge and Seneca Rocks** |
