Grant is from Wintergreen, VA where he grew up climbing and searching for unclimbed rock, ice and adventure. He has been climbing for over 20 years and guiding and instructing in the outdoor industry for 15 years.

Grant enjoys all types of climbing but favors ice and trad. He is as dedicated to teaching as he is to climbing. He has a strong passion for sharing his love for climbing and the mountains with others. Most find that Grant has a laid back, patient and adaptive teaching style. He strives to convey information and skills in a manner that is easy to understand and to retain. During the winter months, Grant spends his time ice climbing and skiing in New York and New Hampshire.

Grant graduated from Radford University with a B.S. in Geospatial Science. He is an American Mountain Guides Association Rock Instructor, SPI Program Provider, Assistant Alpine Guide, Apprentice Ski Guide, Climbing Wall Instructor, Leave No Trace Trainer, and holds a Wilderness First Responder Certification. He has also completed AIARE level I, II, and III avalanche courses, and is an AIARE course leader.
