John Farley
Instructor
John believes in sharing climbing and our public lands. He is committed and passionate to develop and facilitate technical skills, personal confidence, and regional knowledge and access for everyone to enjoy climbing outside.
Growing up on Bent Mountain near Roanoke, VA John has always been called to the rocks, rivers, and high ridges of the Blue Ridge. The New River Gorge Region has always inspired and humbled John since his first visit to climb and paddle in 1995. He has climbed and lived throughout the Sierra Nevada, Desert Southwest, White and Adirondack Ranges, and Northern Mexico and South America.
When not instructing climbing from his home in Fayetteville, WV John enjoys paddling the rivers of the area, working on custom carpentry projects, and traveling to experience places, culture, and live music. He has worked extensively in public lands management contributing to the BLM, USGS, California Tahoe Conservancy, and Nevada Conservation Corps.
John holds deep gratitude and appreciation for the places we spend time outside, the people and culture of climbing, and the opportunity to share all of this through Blue Ridge Mountain Guides.
